Several years ago, veterinarian, Dr. Leslie Woodcock was doing chiropractic work on my dogs, Indy and Maggie. During those appointments; we always talked about dogs, life and dreams. I knew she was taking courses in rehabilitation and aquatic therapy for dogs. I didn't know, at first, what her plans were.  One day she shared with me that she wanted to start a clinic with a pool and water treadmill but wasn't having much luck finding a venue.  In the meantime, I was thinking of expanding our canine business on our property in Puslinch.  We had 10 acres and the dream of building a facility to accommodate more animal related businesses.

We already ran a business of breeding Labrador Retrievers and a reputable and thriving business of a boarding kennel for all breeds.  However, we felt we could and wanted to do more.  I approached Dr. Leslie of possibly starting her new adventure on our property which is very close to Hwy. #401 and Guelph.  It actually didn't take much time to realize that this was a win, win situation.  In 2006, she ended up moving out to our property to live along side of us in order to be available for her new canine rehab clinic, Woodcock Veterinary Services.

We tried to come up with other animal related businesses to come aboard with us.  Luckily, Donna Biddiscombe, was also looking to venture out and enlarge her very successful pet grooming business.  So, Diva Dog Pet Grooming was born.

The 1620 square foot rubber floored arena with kitchen and viewing room was the icing on the cake.  We knew that organizations could use this facility for many different activities; obedience and agility training, animal related meetings and play times for dogs.  We are pleased to have Montessaurus Puppy School running their businesses out of the Dogwood Centre.  The facility still has several weekly rental times available for other organizations or individual use.

Should you wish to discuss the use of the arena or to view the Dogwood Centre facilities for your personal or professional use, please contact me at 519-836-8857 or email to info@dogwoodcentre.ca

Thank you, Becky Alton
